Costume Competition Mary Poppins

Day: Sunday 2nd July 2023

 Location: Queens Park and Portside Heritage Precinct  | Mary River Parklands, Wharf & Richmond Streets 

Maryborough celebrates its connection to Mary Poppins as the birthplace of celebrated storyteller author P. L Travers. 

The annual Mary Poppins Festival celebrates the magical art of storytelling and its ability to transport you to a world full of imagine and possibilities. 

Starting in 1999 as a morning tea hosted by Maryborough’s Proud Mary’s to celebrate P.L. Travers 100th birthday. The celebrations grew into the event we see today and was crowned Mary Poppins Festival in 2007.

Fixed and portable toilets are available through the precinct including accessible toilets

Parking available in surrounding streets, any parking regulations on side roads will still apply. Visitors are encouraged to bring picnic blankets. There will be no allocated seating.  

This is a free event; tickets are required to enter the Story Bank Museum and are available online at https://storybank.ourfrasercoast.com.au/admission-1or on the day – bookings recommended.

The program will be available on the website www.marypoppinsfestival.com.au and at the event from the event information marquee and visitor information marquee. 

This is an alcohol free event;

There is no BYO, all alcohol will be confiscated by security. 

No pets allowed. Assistance animals are exempt.    

Mary Poppins Chimney Sweep Competition

There will be a range of children’s activities available, see the program for further details. Note some activities may incur a charge this is at the discretion of the event organisers and activity operators.

All children must be accompanied by an adult and is the responsibility of the accompanying adult. 

Food and beverages will be available from local food stalls & trucks. 

Yes, there will be a range of market stalls selling goods from toys to handcrafts to sweet treat and homewares and much more.
